genetically modified (gm) foods

I begin most mornings with a scan of Dr. Mercola’s newsletter. Today I was struck by yet another article on genetically modified (GM) foods and the risks they pose and legislative efforts to get them clearly labeled. The article disturbingly points out how pervasive GM foods are in the U.S. and how deceptive food package labeling is.

Here is a link to the Non-GMO Shopping Guide published by the Institute for Responsible Technology: http://www.nongmoshoppingguide.com/. In a nutshell, some guidelines:

  • Buy locally grown food
  • Buy products labeled USDA 100% Organic
  • Watch out for culprits like corn, soybeans, canola, cottonseed, and sugar from sugarbeets

Take good care and enjoy this 366th day!

Carolyn
